Am I a good candidate?
Independent
of your age, you will benefit from this surgery if you have one of these
conditions or any combination of them:
- excess skin that makes eyesight difficult

- tired aspect for your face due to excess of skin and fat on your eyelids

Can the surgery correct all these problems?
- Surgery can correct these problems, but is possible that other
treatments will be necessary, such as:
- "peeling" to reduce the very fine wrinkles and "crow's
feet"
- if the eyebrows have fallen, forehead surgery may be necessary.
Initial consultation
- in the initial consultation, you can show in the mirror everything
that bothers you and that you wish to change
- this gives us a better understanding of your expectations
- you should let the surgeon know if you are under treatment from
an ophthalmologist
- you should let the surgeon know if you use or cannot use contact
lenses for any reason
How is this surgery performed?
- for the upper eyelid the surgical incisions are hidden in the natural
folds of the eyelid
- the surgical incisions extend slightly beyond the external corner
of the eye in a natural fold
- the fat pads may be or not removed
- the scar follows the natural contour of the eyelid and is well hidden
- the incision on the lower eyelid is performed right below the eyelashes
- fat pads, excess skin and muscle tissue are removed
- the scar is well hidden below the eyelashes

What are the possible complications?
Complications are rare, but exist in every surgery. In eyelid
surgery the following complications can occur:
- bruising
- a sensation of "dry eye", that is the irritation of the
eyes, immediately following surgery
- temporary ectropion
- all these risks are minimal if postoperative care instructions are
followed along with the follow-up visits.
How is the recovery period?
-
it varies from person to person
- during the first 48 hours, there will be some swelling and bruising
- this should begin to disappear after 48 hours, and be completely
by the seventh day
- the stitches are removed after 48 hours
- the patient may return to work after 72 hours
What is the final result and how long does it take?
- scars are unnoticeable with time;
- you will look younger and more awake and alert
- your look will be similar to the look you had 10 years before
